For the first time farmers' markets will be held in Waseca. For this year, two have been planned: August 13 and 27. The markets will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Waseca Community Centre. Tables will be available for vendors and lunch will be available for all.

The Waseca Centennial Garden , situated just south of the Community Centre, is progressing well. Shrubs and lilies are both blooming.

The DVDs of the Waseca 100th anniversary celebrations and slides of the history of Waseca are both available. Please get in touch with Bev Hult if you are interested.

Despite the wet weather, the Waseca walking trail is progressing. The hope is that eventually the trail will begin and end at the hall, making a circuit of the village with points of interest along the way. Presently the trail begins at the hall and has progressed along the railway right-of-way. The cairn honouring the Bar Colonists is the first point of interest.

Did you know that marigolds, common garden flowers, are sold as French or African but have no connection with France or Africa. It hails from Mexico. Cortez, an explorer, took seeds back to Spain where they became very popular. Because they were placed on altars to honour the Virgin Mary, they were called marigolds.
