SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Public School’s Brightwater Science, Environmental, and Indigenous Learning Centre Centre will oversee a prescribed burn from Oct. 21 to 25 to manage vegetation. The Centre is located along Beaver Creek, about 20 minutes south of the city on Highway 219.

Prescribed burns also reduce wildfire risk and ensure a healthier and more resilient ecosystem. They are undertaken with fire authorities and follow controlled burn safety procedures.

Area residents may notice smoke in the vicinity during this period, and authorities ask them to refrain from driving over to take a closer look. This keeps the road open for regular traffic and vehicles supporting the burn.
