The Mennonite Church Christmas prayers are to be held Friday at 7:30 p.m. in Mayfair Hall. If you would like to partake in the program, please call Teresa at 306-246-4812. This is always a nice get together on a cold winter evening. Once December rolls around it seems to go by in a flash. Christmas certainly shortens the gloomy, cold days with lots of good times with family and friends.

Former resident Dorothy Allenby recently passed away. She and her husband farmed for many years, sold their land to the VanNortwicks and relocated to North Battleford. Dorothy was 85 years old.

Stephen and Leanne Cherwinski had a great vacation at Riviera Mayan in Mexico at the end of November. They have been to that area several times before and still look forward to seeing new sights each time they go.

Thirteen people from Mayfair attended the theatrical production called Drinking Habit in Cochin Nov. 24. As usual, the play was funny and well performed. Unfortunately, I was away in sunny Yuma, Ariz. so I wasn’t able to attend. I have been here for one month and will be returning home in the next few days. I certainly can’t complain about the weather as I think of everyone back home experiencing some cold days.

Keith and Faye Liebaert were visiting her brother Russell Dean and his wife, Marlene at Caronport two weekends ago.

Old Mills Players tickets are on sale now, which would make a great gift for anyone who likes live theatre and enjoys a home-cooked meal. The play will run the last weekend in February. For tickets, you can call Norma Sherman at 306-824-4616.

I would like to wish readers a merry Christmas and happy new year. Greetings also to the staff of the Regional Optimist.
