It was a beautiful weekend for a baseball tournament. The Muenster Bantam Red Sox swept the Zone 5 provincial playoffs, winning all three of their games.

They hosted and won last year and are hoping for a repeat. The Muenster Pee Wee Red Sox are in the midst of preparing to host the Pee Wee A2 Provincial baseball tournament July 16-18 and coach Troy Anderson is busy.

It's time to bring out your boats if you are travelling down Highway 5. As of July 2, a section of Hwy. 5, about seven kilometers west of Humboldt, is closed due to flooding.

Mrs. Florence May Vetterl, 80 years of Watson and formerly of Spalding passed away on Monday, July 5, 2010 at Humboldt District Hospital. Florence was born on December 3, 1929 to John & Emma (nee Johnson) Vetterl at the homestead east of Spalding.

Water continues to cause traffic problems

Be careful when driving on Highway 5 or you might just float away. The water level on Highway 5 has now crept up the sides of the highway. The highway is now being manned by flag people, warning motorists to drive with caution.

Humboldt AAA Midgets get back to swinging bats

It's been a tough season so far, but one local baseball team is hoping things get better. The Humboldt Dodgers AAA Midget baseball team hasn't had much luck getting games in this season with the continual rain.
