BJORKDALE —The Bjorkdale curling rink was a happening place on Saturday, Feb. 25 with the annual ladies bonspiel happening with six teams.
Winners of the A-side were Nicole Goldsworthy, Jill Szeliga, Colleen Currey and Samantha Hofer-Law. B-side winners were Joyce Desrosier, Lorelei Rummel, Shirley Bratton and Annika Rummel. Ashley Irving and her rink took home the prize for best dressed '80s theme. There is one more bonspiel left before the end of the curling season on March 11, the family bonspiel. The Bjorkdale curling rink is also doing a Chase the Ace with the draw every Friday at 8:30 p.m. at the Valley Inn. The progressive jackpot is over $450 for this Friday, March 3 draw. You must be at the Valley Inn to draw a card. All proceeds go towards the Bjorkdale curling rink.
The Bjorkdale under 9 Bruins had their final league game in Tisdale, Sat. Feb 25. It was a close game but lost 13 – 8. The team has come a long way since the start of the season. Playoff games have yet to be scheduled but they will play at least one more game for playoffs. The coach was Marty Horn, Assistant Coach was Orin Bratton, Manager was Nicole Goldsworthy.
