REGINA - The Saskatchewan Roughriders have confirmed the return of a couple of legends from the 2013 Grey Cup team for Plaza of Honour weekend.

Quarterback Darian Durant and former head coach Corey Chamblin are returning for the 2023 SaskTel Plaza of Honour and Legends Game on October 7 against the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Also announced this week for that event is the return of offensive coordinator George Cortez, offensive line coach Doug Malone and the attendance of defensive lineman Zack Evans. Others previously confirmed to be there were Grey Cup MVP Kory Sheets, as well as Tyron Brackenridge, Tristan Jackson, Chris Getzlaf, Neal Hughes, Ricky Foley, Mike McCullough and Chris Best.

Durant led the Roughriders to a 45-16 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the 2013 Grey Cup, played at the old Mosaic Stadium. Chamblin was in his second year at the helm of the Riders and was named Coach of the Year.

The induction ceremonies will take place at halftime of the game and the Roughriders also confirmed the Grey Cup will be in the house as well. Also planned for Game Day will be a team autograph signing in Coors Light Party in the Park starting at 3 p.m., billed by the club as the “only opportunity for fans to meet every player in attendance from the 2013 team in one place.”

Kickoff for the game against Hamilton on Oct. 7 is at 5 p.m. and fans are being encouraged to get to Mosaic Stadium early for the festivities.
