REGINA - Regina Police Service are reporting one individual has been arrested and police are still determining the identity of the other suspect after two separate incidents downtown last week involving what appeared to be a firearm.
A 25 year-old female has been charged with two counts of Break and Enter with Intent, Assault with a Weapon, Pointing a Firearm, two counts of Fail to Comply with Release Order and Possession of a Firearm Contrary to Prohibition Order. She made her first court appearance Monday morning.
The identity of a second suspect is still not known and police are still investigating.
Both incidents happened last week. According to police, the first incident took place Thursday night, Jan. 16 at the 2100 block of 11th Ave.
Police say that shortly before 10 p.m. an employee witnessed two suspects in the building after closing time, with one of them carrying what was believed to a firearm. Police say that members of the RPS Tactical Support Unit, Patrol officers and members of the Canine Unit responded.
A suspect was located and arrested a short time later. Police confirm the Police Service Dog made contact and bit the suspect, who was treated for minor injuries.
The next evening, Jan. 17, police were called to the same address around 5:50 p.m., responding to a report of a female suspect having pointed an apparent firearm at a security guard after being escorted out of the business.
Officers soon found the female suspect walking along the 1700 block of Rose Street. She was arrested, and officers determined the individual has been involved in the firearms incident the day before.
On further investigation, it was discovered a pellet gun was used in the two incidents.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and they are working to confirm the identity of the second suspect. Anyone with information is asked to contact Regina Police Service at 306-777-6500 or anonymously to Regina Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
