After the truck was stolen from outside a home in the Sturgeon Lake area, there was another report of attempted fuel theft in Shellbrook.

STURGEON LAKE FIRST NATION – Prince Albert RCMP arrested two people and seized methamphetamine and two illegally modified firearms after tracking a stolen truck.

On June 28, at approximately 9:30 a.m., Prince Albert RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle. Their investigation determined a pick-up truck was stolen from outside a home in the Sturgeon Lake area.

The next day, at about 5:30 a.m., Shellbrook RCMP got a call about a theft in progress. Their investigation determined a truck entered a property in Shellbrook and tried to steal fuel. Someone from the property approached and the people in the truck threatened him with a firearm. He didn’t report physical injuries to police. RCMP say the truck was the same one reported stolen to Prince Albert RCMP the previous day.

Officers continued their efforts to locate the stolen truck. Prince Albert RCMP found the truck on Sturgeon Lake First Nation on June 30 and officers observed a woman near the truck. They told her she was under arrest but she tried to escape and assaulted an officer. The officer wasn’t seriously injured. The woman was then arrested and found to have approximately 115 grams of crystal methamphetamine, various pills, and drug trafficking paraphernalia in her purse.

Police got a search warrant for the home and seized two illegally-modified firearms, an airsoft rifle, and an airsoft handgun. Two people at the residence were arrested.

Sky Takakenew, 31, from Little Red is charged with two counts possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and trafficking property obtained by crime under $5,000. She appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court July 5.

A man from Sturgeon Lake First Nation is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000. RCMP didn’t release his name.

A third person arrested at the home was released without charges.
