MAIDSTONE 鈥 RCMP have found human remains in a rural area in the R.M. of Britannia and say they are working with the Saskatchewan Coroner鈥檚 Service to formally identify the deceased and determine the cause of death.
A spokesperson from Saskatchewan RCMP said that on Oct. 28 Maidstone RCMP received a report of human remains found.
鈥淢aidstone RCMP has notified families of missing persons in the area of this discovery, and will keep them updated as the investigation continues,鈥 said the RCMP.
An Onion Lake Cree Nation resident, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, on Monday night, said the remains were that of missing man Serayne Kematch.
The person said the remains were found 鈥渏ust below Jumbo Hill,鈥 adding that the site is 鈥渃urrently being watched by police dogs and investigators will be there tomorrow [Tuesday] morning.鈥
The person said that ranchers had found the body.
Saskatchewan RCMP haven鈥檛 confirmed that the remains are that of 28-year-old Kematch who has been missing since April 10. He was last seen walking north of a business in Alcurve in the RM of Britannia near the intersection of Highways 3 and 17 around noon on that day.
RCMP had conducted ground searches of the area because police were told that he was going to walk back through the rural area to Onion Lake.
