Second person charged in May long weekend Regina murder

Two accused make first court appearances, police say.

REGINA – A second person has been arrested and charged in relation to the May long-weekend murder in the Glen Elm Trailer Court.

"A 29 year-old male was charged with second degree murder in relation to the case," said RPS in a media release. "As a result of ongoing investigation by the RPS Major Crimes Unit, a second person has been charged."

Joshua Christopher Shore, 29, was arrested and appeared in court on May 23 for a second degree murder charge. Vanessa Lynn Okemaysim, 31, was also arrested by RPS and made her first court appearance in Provincial Court on May 25. Okemaysim faces charges of second degree murder and failure to comply with a probation order.

Okemaysim will come before court again on May 30, while Shore will next appear on June 6.

The charges stem from an incident in the Glen Elm Trailer Court on May 20 at approximately 12:59 p.m. Police received a report of an injured person, which quickly escalated that a man had been located and "believed to be deceased".

"Police and EMS arrived and at approximately 1:07 p.m., EMS pronounced the individual deceased, beginning a death investigation," RPS said.

The death was quickly ruled a homicide, with the victim being identified as 40-year-old T.J. Tanner (also known as "Summer").

This marks the third homicide investigation police have been involved in so far in 2023.
