Pharmacist suspected of drug trafficking back in Saskatoon court

Police say more than 24,000 narcotics unaccounted for from pharmacy inventory.

Earlier this year, Saskatoon police raided a pharmacy in the 900 block of Northumberland Avenue, four homes, and two vehicles. They seized 20,285 grams of methamphetamine packaged in one- and two-kilogram quantities, 8,040 grams of cannabis packaged in half-kilogram quantities, more than 700 oxycodone pills, 1,038 grams of buffing agent, $12,940 cash, modified fully automatic prohibited Glock 9mm handgun with extended magazine, multiple mobile phones, and paraphernalia consistent with drug trafficking.

SASKATOON – Three people charged in a major drug trafficking bust had appearances in Saskatoon Provincial Court Tuesday.

Lawyers representing Jenna Ternan, 41, and Elmer J. Hanson, 46, requested that their matters be adjourned saying they are still waiting for disclosure. Judge Bria Huculak adjourned both of their matters to June 6. Neither were present in court. 

Mohamed Jomha had an appearance in another courtroom Tuesday and his matter was adjourned to June 21 for election. Kennieth James Pauls is back in court May 25. The charges against Liban Ali were stayed in April.

In January and February, Saskatoon police had raided a pharmacy in the 900 block of Northumberland Avenue, four homes, and two vehicles. Ternan was charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, unsafe storage of a firearm, and failing to hold a firearm license.

Hanson was charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking of a schedule 1 substance, obstruction, unsafe storage of a firearm, and failing to hold a firearm’s license.

Jomha, Ali, and Pauls were charged with trafficking in Methamphetamine, possession for the purpose of trafficking in Methamphetamine, Oxycodone, and Cannabis, possession of the proceeds of crime, and several firearms-related offences.
