SASKATOON – A Saskatoon pharmacist made her first appearance in Saskatoon court Thursday after being arrested for drug trafficking.

Jenna Ternan, 41, was arrested following an investigation by the Saskatoon Police Service Drug Unit. Police say pharmacy records reveal that from September 2022 to January 2023, more than 24,000 Schedule 1 narcotics were unaccounted for from the pharmacy inventory. On Feb. 28, they raided a pharmacy in the 900 block of Northumberland Ave., a home in the 1000 block of Schuyler Street, and two vehicles.

Ternan has been charged with two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of the proceeds of crime over $5,000, unsafe storage of a firearm, and failing to hold a firearm license.

Police launched their investigation after seizing more than 700 oxycodone pills on Jan. 9. The Oxycodone pills are alleged to have been connected to Ternan.

In February, they seized 43 Hydromorphone Contin18 capsules, 85 Dextroamphetamine capsules, 22 Dilaudid capsules, a coffee grinder covered in white powder residue, labels from pharmaceutical bottles, a 2018 Honda, a bolt action .22 calibre firearm, and various documentation and pharmacy records

Elmer J. Hanson, 46, was also arrested in connection to this investigation. He is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking of a schedule 1 substance, obstruction, unsafe storage of a firearm, and failing to hold a firearm’s license.

Police say they worked with Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals in their investigation.

Ternan and Hanson are both back in court on April 4 to enter an election. Neither are in custody.
