No bail for man accused of pointing sawed-off shotgun, handgun at people

During the arrest, Saskatoon police seized a loaded homemade handgun and loaded sawed-off shotgun.

Saskatoon police had received a weapons complaint at about 12:30 a.m. on May 26 in the 1000 block of 8th Street East.

SASKATOON – A man accused of pointing a sawed-off shotgun and another gun out of a vehicle window at people in another vehicle was denied bail.

A warrant of committal was issued for Justin Allan Badger, 22, and he is back in Saskatoon Provincial Court July 6 to enter an election.

His co-accused Demitri Dale Dustryhorn, 30, was remanded in custody on Friday and he has a show cause hearing scheduled for July 7.

Saskatoon police had received a weapons complaint at about 12:30 a.m. on May 26 in the 1000 block of 8th Street East. The caller had told police that while driving, people in a black Volkswagon Atlas had pointed a sawed-off shotgun and another gun out their window at him.

Police found the vehicle in the 100 block of Avenue P Â鶹´«Ã½AV and saw two people walking away from the vehicle. They were arrested without incident, as well as the driver who was still inside the vehicle.

When police searched the vehicle, they found a loaded, sawed-off shotgun and ammunition in a back pack. One of the suspects was also concealing a loaded homemade handgun, a large knife, and bear spray.

Badger was charged with 13 weapons-related offences and breach of probation. Dustyhorn was charged with eight weapons-related offences.
