Cut Knife RCMP arrest Marsden residents, recover 11 stolen firearms

Police recovered 11 stolen firearms after raiding two homes in Marsden.

CUT KNIFE – RCMP arrested three Marsden residents and recovered 11 stolen firearms and a truck after raiding two homes in Marsden on March 7.

Joshua Thorne, 29, Amy Racette, 39, and Keesha Rippengal, 28, are facing theft, break and enter, and weapons related offences.

On March 7, at approximately noon, Cut Knife RCMP had received a report of a collision between a truck and an SUV on a grid road southwest of Marsden. When police arrived, there was no one at the scene.

At about the same time, Cut Knife RCMP got a call about a break-in at a rural home about three-and-a-half kilometres southwest of Marsden. Police determined that the truck involved in the collision was stolen from the rural home, along with 11 firearms.

Cut Knife RCMP got search warrants and raided two homes in Marsden and arrested Thorne, Racette, Rippengal, and a fourth person who was released without charges. There, they located the 11 firearms reported stolen earlier that day, an ATV, fraudulent documents, credit cards, and a significant amount of power tools and electronics also suspected of being stolen.

Cut Knife RCMP say that two of the three charged were driving the pick-up truck and SUV that collided. No serious injuries were reported to police.

Thorne is charged with break and enter with intent, theft under $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime, mischief under $5,000, and careless storage of a firearm.

Racette is charged with theft under $5,000, possession of proceeds of crime, and careless storage of a firearm.

Rippengal is charged with break and enter with intent.

Racette and Rippengal are scheduled to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on April 4.

Thorne had a show cause hearing scheduled on March 13 and remains in custody. He is back in court on March 15 for a show cause hearing.
