Only one new case of COVID-19 was announced in Manitoba May 8, part of a trend toward fewer cases province-wide. Provincial chief public health officer Dr. Brent Roussin announced only one new case during the government's May 8 briefing.

EAST CENTRAL— As of May 7, Saskatchewan has 19 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the provincial total to 531— four of the new cases are in the north region.

A staff member at the Meadow Lake Hospital has a confirmed case of COVID-19. Dr. Mandiangu Nsungu, a medical health officer with the Saskatchewan Health Authority, declared an outbreak at the hospital the evening of May 5.

A checkpoint has gone up between Flin Flon and Creighton, set up by the Saskatchewan government as part of recent northern public health orders. The checkpoint, located at the Phantom Lake Road between Creighton and Flin Flon, was put up May 5.
