YORKTON - A man has been charged in connection with the alleged attempted murder of a child in Yorkton.
On Feb. 1 at approximately 2:20 p.m., Yorkton RCMP received a report of a serious assault at a residence on Waterloo Road in Yorkton.
Officers and EMS responded. The investigation determined a man assaulted a child, who is under the age of six, who was transported to hospital with serious injuries. Police say they are unable to provide an update on the child’s condition, due to privacy considerations.
The man was arrested at the scene.
As a result of continued investigation, 41-year-old Frederick Stewart, from Saltcoats, is charged with:
- one count of attempted murder;
- one count, aggravated assault;
- one count, assault by choking; and
- one count, fail to comply with probation order.
