Preeceville present and past residents are being encouraged to reconnect with their roots during the Canada 150 anniversary.

James Betts will be performing at the Sturgis Mini-Miracle 37 scheduled to be hosted by the Sturgis Kinsmen and Kinettes on March 2.

The Sturgis Composite High School senior boys curling team brought home a silver medal from the district competition held in Yorkton on February 4 and 5. The team has qualified to advance to Regionals in Estevan on March 3 and 4.

The Bob Lebo rink of Preeceville won the first event of the Stenen Annual Open Bonspiel which was held from January 29 to February 5 with 17 teams participating.

The Kelvington 4-H Beef Club held its regular meeting at the Kelvington High School on February 5, said Blake Zagrodney, club reporter. With lots to discuss it was quite a long meeting, Zagrodney said.

The Preeceville Health Action Plan committee organized a paint night with 103 community and area members registered. The evening was held at the Preeceville Community Legion Hall on February 10.

The Preeceville Atoms hockey team hosted a tournament on February 11with four teams entered. Visiting teams were from Hudson Bay, Yorkton and Nipawin.

The Town of Preeceville was represented by councillors Johnny Petryshyn, Welma Bartel and Sheldon Luciw at the SUMA (Saskatchewan Urban Municipalities Association) convention held in Saskatoon on February 4 to 8.

Ministry of Environment conservation officers recently completed investigations in the North Battleford area involving illegal outfitting and hunting activities, resulting in more than $24,000 in fines.

Preeceville residents had the opportunity to voice their opinions concerning the type of development or redevelopment they want to see in the community in the next 10 to 15 years.
