OUTLOOK - After playing in their home rink this past weekend at regionals, a young Outlook curling team now finds itself headed to the provincial ice.
On Friday, February 28 and Saturday, March 1, the Outlook Curling Club was host to the SHSAA's Regional Curling Championship, bringing teams from all over the province to the riverside community in the search for which team would move on to the provincial bracket.
In addition to the standard four-member formula, Outlook also saw doubles taking place at the same time. Welcoming teams from Dinsmore, Swift Current, Gull Lake, Moose Jaw, Dalmeny, Avonlea and Martensville, as well as doubles teams from Hazlet, Mossbank, Moose Jaw, Rosthern, and Langham, the event saw all senior boys teams give their all.
The 'A' qualifier saw Outlook take on the team from Moose Jaw Peacock, with the winning foursome headed to provincials. When all was said and done, the hosting Blues were the victors, defeating Moose Jaw at a score of 10-5 in seven ends after an impressive game with notable shots made by both teams.
Under the tutelage and guidance of Bill Ivan and Kirk Pederson, the winning team consists of Davin Ivan, Brant Ivan, Aiden Kratchmer and Alex Calvin.
The curling provincial championships for the boys takes place this coming Friday and Saturday, March 7 & 8 in Wynyard.
