OUTLOOK - The Outlook Ice Hawks were left licking both their wounds and pride after Friday's game at the Jim Kook Rec Plex.
On December 6, the Hawks hosted the Kenaston Blizzards in league hockey action and the game saw the visiting roster take a decisive lead early in the action.
In the first period, Kenaston #73 Levi Cable got his team on the scoreboard first with a goal just over a minute into the game at the 18:50 mark. Keeping up the pace, #23 Leighton Jewell sunk another Kenaston goal in at 13:32, and from there both teams jockeyed for position on the ice until Blizzards #18 Chris Durand sunk one in with 1:45 remaining.
The second period was more of the same from Kenaston, with #16 Jordan Tkatch sinking two goals for his team that were spread out over the duration of time on the clock, scored at the 13:31 and 5:36 marks.
It wasn't until the third period came along that Outlook showed signs of life. After goals by Kenaston #12 Eric Asbjornhus at 19:20 and #21 Hayden Wilm at 13:56, Ice Hawks #90 Steven Lee sunk one in for the home team at the 10:00 mark. The Blizzards weren't done though, as #8 Nolan Haugen scored at 8:04, but Outlook came right back with their second and final goal of the night scored by #85 Ryan Husband at 5:54. The last goal of the game came from Blizzards #12 Asbjornhus with just 34 seconds remaining, all but securing a Kenaston win.
The Blizzards defeated the Ice Hawks at a score of 9-2.
Outlook will have a chance at redemption when Kenaston returns for another game this Saturday night, December 14, and then the Ice Hawks will return on Sunday to host the Davidson Cyclones.
