Female Ice Hawks take close victory on home ice in Outlook

Outlook hosted the squad from Swift Current at the Jim Kook Rec Plex.

OUTLOOK - The Outlook Mainline Ice Hawks are impressing hockey fans this season with their early performances, with two games played and two wins earned so far this year.

Their latest victory came at home in front of a raucous crowd at the Jim Kook Rec Plex on Friday, October 18 when the Ice Hawks hosted the Â鶹´«Ã½AVwest CMX Impact from Swift Current.

The first period saw the Hawks get on the scoreboard twice, with goals scored by #21 Haley Braun at 17:55 and #3 Jayda Braun at 13:54. That would be the only points garnered in this chunk of time as the Hawks managed to stave off any attempt at a comeback from the Impact.

In the second period, #21 Braun scored her second goal of the night for Outlook at 18:40, but Â鶹´«Ã½AVwest answered back with two goals of their own, with pucks sent into the Hawks' net by #77 Desiree Bouffard at 10:06 and #66 Bryn Haubrich at 1:42.

The final period saw both teams fight tooth and nail for the advantage, as #66 Haubrich sunk another one in for the Impact at 19:35 to tie things up at three goals apiece. Looking to move further ahead and maintain the points advantage, Outlook #24 Kienna Higgs scored for her team at 9:42 to take the lead, and then #21 Braun made her third goal of the game for the Ice Hawks, solidifying the lead as time started to run out. In the final three minutes of gameplay, Â鶹´«Ã½AVwest came back with a last goal, made by #94 Kaleigh McCann at 2:50, but the Hawks managed to maintain the lead as the seconds ran out.

Outlook took the win at a score of 5-4, another victory after their first win of the season against the Western Prairie Junior Klippers on October 11 at a score of 6-1.

The Mainline Ice Hawks are on the road this coming weekend with games against the Lumsden Lynx on Friday, October 25 and the Regina Junior Rebels the following night. Outlook is back at home on Friday, November 22 when Regina comes to town.
