Amateur hockey buzzes inside, outside Outlook rink

Plenty of action to take in at the Jim Kook Rec Plex these days.

OUTLOOK - Drop by the Jim Kook Rec Plex in Outlook on pretty much any given Friday, Saturday, or even during the work week these days and you're bound to see multiple generations of up and coming hockey players taking to the ice to give it their all, and all for the fun of the game.

That was certainly the case on Friday, January 26 as the Under-15 Ice Hawks played host to the Eston Ramblers out on the main ice. The Outlook squad took it to Eston in what ended up being a closely matched game. By the final buzzer, the home team were the victors at a score of 4-3, with goals scored by #12 Carson Edgar, #13 Landon Sincennes, and #14 Ethan King (2) sealing it for the Hawks.

This game was followed by Outlook's Under-18 squad taking on the Ramblers, and much like the previous game, the local team wound up capturing four goals on their opponents as Outlook won at a score of 4-2. Goals for the home team were scored by #19 Kolby Gibson, #21 Alex Phillips, #13 Sawyer Spence, and #8 Thomas Lucas.

And while the action on the main ice of the rink kept the attention of many, there was also some slap-shotting going on outside the rink as both of the Under-7 Ice Hawks rosters wound up playing each other on the outdoor rink behind the Rec Plex. As parents cheered the youngest players on under the receding sunset sky, it made for an environment that promoted the fact that at the end of the day, hockey and all sports are really just about one thing - making sure that kids have fun.

The Under-15 Ice Hawks are back on home ice this coming Tuesday, February 6 when they host the Prairie Predators, with a game time of 6:30.
