The Rawtec Maulers stretched their legs and honed their teamwork skills during a pre-season tournament last weekend. The Maulers played against teams from Regina and Tisdale at the Gallagher Centre on Sept. 8.

Preparations continue for the Yorkton Terriers on the eve of the upcoming Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League. 鈥淭here鈥檚 been a lot of hard decisions to be made,鈥� said Terrier head coach Mat Hehr on Monday.

Yorkton鈥檚 youngest players continued on their path to football supremacy over the weekend. Dozens of pint-sized players occupied the field at YRHS on Sept. 8 and 9 for two days of gridiron action.

The Yorkton Terriers have made changes to their season tickets, and it is causing a ripple of concern with some. 鈥淭here鈥檚 been a little bit of minor controversy,鈥� admitted Ryan Kormos marketing and public relations manager with the team.

The Yorkton Canoe and Kayak Club (YCKC) brought its summer season to an epic close this past weekend with its fifth annual fall dragonboat race. Four teams competed in the day-long event on Sept. 8 at York Lake.

The Preeceville Panther football program held its annual fall conditioning camp that focused on player performance during the week of August 27 to 30.

The first annual Hoop Jam basketball tournament was held at the Canora Composite School (CCS) on August 25 to 26.

New school year means new six-man season

A former Kamsack recreation director has won another Golden Duck trophy to place beside the ones he won last year and in 2013.

Students weren鈥檛 back in the classroom until yesterday, but the Yorkton Regional High School Raider Gridders have been on the practice field since Aug. 23.
