A Kamsack teacher and mother of three proved to herself that she is still able to run a 10k marathon in less than an hour. Chantel Kitchen completed the Queen City Marathon, held in Regina on September 9 with a time of 53:02.

The combined Sturgis and Norquay senior girls volleyball team traveled to a Wadena tournament September 28 and 29 and came home with a first-place win.

Twelve students from the Preeceville School participated in the Saltcoats Autumn Summit cross-country meet on September 28. Athletes who attended the meet in the squirt category, were: Savannah Neilson, Henrie Bertram and Wyatt Scheller.

The Yorkton Bantam Terriers took on the Saskatoon Maniacs in home game action on Oct. 6. The fierce competition ended with a 6-6 tie.

Different day, different field, different team, same story. The Yorkton Regional High School Raider Gridders ploughed their way through the Swift Current Comprehensive School Colts last week, solidifying their dominant position in the division.

At a soccer tournament on the last weekend of September, the Sacred Heart High School Saints finished second. The team defeated Prince Albert St Mary 6 to 1 - Nick Fetsch scored 5 goals and Jaspyn Campbell scored one.

The Yorkton Maulers lost a pair of tough games over the weekend, deepening their shaky early season to an underwhelming record of 1-5. The Maulers faced the Saskatoon Blazers in an away game on Oct. 6.

The Yorkton Terriers clinched a strong victory over the Melville Millionaires last week, pushing the team further ahead in the standings while sending a firm message to their major rivals.
