It was a difficult road trip for the Yorkton RawTec Maulers who dropped a pair of Saskatchewan AAA Midget Hockey League games.

Home ice seemed a key in a weekend set between the Yorkton Terriers and rival Melville. The Terriers defended their Farrell Agencies Arena ice Friday with a 6-2 Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League win.

Travis Nesbitt is all-in in terms of playing poker, and the decision to focus on the deal of the cards has led him to a major opportunity in January. Nesbitt will travel to Nassau in the Bahamas Jan.

The Yorkton Regional High School Cross Country Team held their Awards Dinner this past week and handed out their three annual awards. Jessie Horsman (pictured on the left), received the Coaches Award.

The Yorkton Wildlife Federation held its annual horn measuring night on Dec. 6, with hunters from the area bringing their best horns from various different animals to the Yorkton Gun Club to see who had the most impressive set of horns.

Twenty years ago, the first skiers hit the slopes at Asessippi Ski Area and Resort in Manitoba. To celebrate the big anniversary, the resort is making some big changes and planning big celebrations for the anniversary year.

With the 鈥淢oonlight Madness鈥� in full swing, everyone filing into the Broda Sportsplex was greeted with the wonderful singing of Christmas carols prior to the Friday night showdown between the Kamsack Atom Flyers and the Yorkton Deneschuk Terriers.

For the first time this season the Yorkton RawTec Maulers have put together back-to-back wins. The Maulers defeated Moose Jaw on Dec. 2, on Farrell Agencies Arena ice, then headed to Mosaic Place in Moose Jaw to again face the Generals Saturday.

The Yorkton Terriers played only one Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League game this week a loss on home ice Friday.
