This past weekend the Canadian university basketball championships were held. It is likely all but the most ardent basketball fans in this country, or graduates of the universities involved, were aware of the championship tournaments.

Robbie Dombrowski will be head coach of the 2019 edition of the Western Canadian Baseball League鈥檚 Yorkton Cardinals. A 2018 graduate from St. Norbert College in De Pere, Wisconsin, Dombrowski was a two-time captain for the St. Norbert baseball team.

Yorkton United FC, the city鈥檚 soccer program, gathered on Mar. 9 for their sixth annual banquet, to celebrate their accomplishments and the continued growth of the sport in the city.

The Novice hockey season in Yorkton celebrated the end of another successful season, and the Century 21 Terriers took the trophy at the end of the day, besting the Thorsness Terriers 15-4.

The annual Stenen Open Bonspiel, which was held from January 27 to February 3 attracted 18 teams. The Joe Yacyshyn rink of Preeceville took first place in the 1st event.

On the National Lacrosse League鈥檚 Trade Deadline Day, the Saskatchewan Rush added an accomplished veteran presence to their defence.
