YRHS atletes medal at provincials

The 2017 Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association Provincial Track & Field Championships were held in Saskatoon on June 2 and 3.

The 2017 Saskatchewan High School Athletic Association Provincial Track & Field Championships were held in Saskatoon on June 2 and 3. Yorkton Regional High School had a total of 30 athletes involved, and 19 of those student athletes had top eight results.
Overall, YRHS placed 6th for 4A school combined scores.  
Kelsey Haczkewicz brought home two medals. She won a silver medal in the senior girls’ 800m run and a bronze medal in the senior girls’ 1500m run. This concludes her high school career, but she is moving on to the University of Regina in September and will continue her track and field career there. YRHS coach Duane Miller said “Kelsey has provided leadership in practice and competition with her dedication, drive, and hard work.  We will miss her presence next year.â€
Josh Haczkewicz won a silver medal in the midget boys’ 4 x 100m relay. Miller added that Josh teased them with his potential, and the coaches are excited to see how he develops in the years to come.
Other YRHS results are as follows:

Midget Girls
Zoe Flaman: 800m – 4th place, 1500m – 5th place, 4 x 400m Relay – 4th place.
Karlee Sidoryk: Pole vault – 6th place.

Midget Boys
Josh Haczkewicz: 800m - 4th place, 1500m – 7th place, 4 x 100m relay – silver medal.
Nicholas Nesseth: High jump – 6th place, pole vault – 5th place.
Johntee Ostapowich: Pole vault – 8th place.

Junior Boys
Gavin Oystrick: Triple jump – 7th place.
Senior Girls
Kelsey Haczkewicz: 800m – silver medal, 1500m – bronze medal, 4 x 400m relay – 4th place, 4 x 100m relay – 6th place.
Alex Flaman: 1500m – 5th place, 3000m – 4th place.
Deanna Kitzul: Shot Put – 5th place.
Senior Boys
Jihwan Shin: Pole Vault – 5th place.
