Yorkton Track Club does well in Regina

On Saturday, April 11, 15 local athletes, all members of the Yorkton Legion Track Club, travelled to Regina for the last indoor meet of the season.

On Saturday, April 11, 15 local athletes, all members of the Yorkton Legion Track Club, travelled to Regina for the last indoor meet of the season.

Many of the athletes performed at or above their standards while three of the relay teams came home with medals, two gold and one silver, respectively.

The midget girls relay team of Kelsey and Jennifer Haczkewicz, and Sarah and Paige Novakowski. claimed gold in their age group.

The boys youth relay team, consisting of Jaden and Jaret Porte, Haylen Langelier and Derek Campbell also ran away with gold at the event.

The mixed youth relay team of Dana Bocking, Brittany Varga, Karlee Duczek and Anothony Judkins couldn't complete the golden hattrick, however they still did well, winning the silver medal in Regina.

Grayson's Karlee Duczek jumped away her old personal best in high jump of 1.42 meters with a new personal best of 1.48 meters while Yorkton's Anthony Judkins also set a personal best at the indoor track meet, tearing up the track in the 800 metres with a time of 2:17.21, nearly four full seconds better than his old time of 2:21.

Brittany Varga from Esterhazy also broke her personal best in 800 metres with a new time of 2:40.07, two seconds better than the old time of 2:42.
