Yorkton track athletes compete at Westerns

Yorkton and area athletes attend the Western Canadian Track and Field Championship” in Winnipeg July 17-19. The athletes really enjoyed the very high end competition that the Winnipeg meet had to offer. It was a big step up from High school and Sask.

Highlights

Kelsey Haczkewicz receives bronze medal in Youth 4 x 400m with her Team Sask.

Sarah Sutter receives bronze medal in Youth High Jump.

Jaden Porte receives silver medal in Western Canada team challenge 800m setting a new personal best 1:52.55 while winning the gold medal in 4 x 400m Relay Team with Team Sask.

Cole Burkholder is officially moving on to the next and final level with Team Sask.

He will be funded to travel to St. Therese, Quebec, to the Legion Youth Canadian Track and Field Championship. He will represent Saskatchewan in the 800m and 400m on August 7-9.

Jaden Porte will be travelling with team Sask. for his last outdoor track meet of the season to Fort MacMurray to attend Western Canada Summer Games Championship (U21 athletes) from August 7 to16.

Porte is the youngest member of the team and his objective is to get a sub 1:52 time to get funding from Athletics Canada for 2016.
