Volleyball just finished, now it's onto basketball and curling for the Yorkton Central Public School.

Yorkdale's boys and girls team will both play out of Conference 3 this season.

Yorkdale teacher/coach and Conference commissioner Jason Boyda said Yorkdale's team will play in the East Central league this year along with the high schools, as well as the Yorkton Elementary Schools Sports Association where they will take on competition from other elementary schools.

Yorkdale's Conference 3 schedule has them in the same division as the Yorkton Regional High School and Sacred Heart High School.

Other teams include Canora, Invermay, Langenburg, Churchbridge and Norquay.

Boyda said practices for both the boys team and girls team are set to begin this week with tryouts. The boys get out tomorrow, he said.

The season was originally supposed to start up this week, says Boyda.

However school representatives from Langenburg had to cancel the games.

Boyda said he's hoping for a rescheduled game sometime in the next week or so. The Yorkdale teams are looking at possible road games in Melville and Esterhazy.
