Yorkton Martial Arts Training Centre students travelled to Nipawin, SK, on Saturday, May 10 to take part in the Soaring High Open Martial Arts tournament and the Saskatchewan Martial Arts Association (SMAA) Provincial championships.
All athletes did extremely well at the tournament while facing the province's elite athletes.
Isaac Forster finished fourth in forms and runner up in point sparring
Kyran Crowe-Buffalo finished in third in weapon sparring.
Nicholas Blount took home the gold medals in both forms as well as point sparring. He is also the Provincial champion in point sparring
Damon Crowe-Buffalo finished in fourth place in weapon sparring & runner up point sparring.
Adam Rusnak turned some heads, finished first overall in point sparring and weapon sparring while bringing a silver medal back to Yorkton in forms. Rusnak is also the new Provincial Champion in point sparring
Gracynn Gurniak-Hudy equalled Rusnak's medal performance. Gurniak-Hudy won gold in both forms and point sparring while winning silver in weapon sparring.
Vern Musqua also represented well, winning gold in Light Kickboxing and Sambo.
