The Yorkton Yankees knocked off the Russell Bulls in the semi-finals of Â鶹´«Ã½AV East Senior Baseball League playoff action this past week.
"We knew going in to the year we had a good team," said Yankees team captain Mark Jacobs after the regular-season ended. "We weren't quite sure how good we would be, but we expected to have a good season and do well in the league play."
In the best-of-three series, the Yankees beat the Bulls 11-0 in Game 1 at home and 6-4 in the second match on the road.
The Yankees were rewarded with a bye in the survivor series SESBL action because they finished in first place with a 13-0-1 record.
The Yankees will play the winner of the other semi-final series, which is tied at one, between the Canora Supers and Langenburg Indians in the championship series. The final series is a best-of-five affair.
