Rain was again the story for the Western Major Baseball League Cardinals.
Last Wednesday (June 18) the Cardinals game scheduled for Regina was postponed until June 23, due to rain.
Thursday Jubilee Park in Yorkton was too wet to allow the Weyburn Beavers to visit.
Originally scheduled for a single encounter, a doubleheader had been planned to make up an earlier rain-out. The first game has been re-scheduled to June 25, the second to July 9.
The Cardinals finally got into action Saturday in Moose Jaw against the Central Division-leading Miller Express.
The Miller Express took a 1-0 lead in the second inning, only to have the Cardinals leap frog them with a pair in the third.
The Yorkton lead would hold until the sixth when Moose Jaw scored four.
The Cardinals managed to get one of those runs back in the eighth, but Moose Jaw scored twice in the home-half of the frame to complete the scoring in a 7-3 win.
Cameron Duncan went deep for Yorkton, and had a pair of runs-batted-in.
Lefty Codi Scanlon started on the mound for Yorkton, completing six innings. He allowed six hits, and gave up five runs, including a round-tripper to Dylan Hanson. None of the runs were earned, as the Cardinals committed five errors in the game.
Sunday afternoon's game scheduled for 2 p.m. at Jubilee Park was pushed to 7 p.m., but did get played, amid reoccurring showers which sent fans in search of shelter, coats and umbrellas.
The East Division-leading Red Sox struck for four runs in the top of the first inning off Cardinal starter Max Chadsey, and never looked back.
The Red Sox used 11 hits, aided by nine walks and three Cardinal errors to plate 11 runs, including five in the fifth, to record an 11-6 win.
The Cardinals made it interesting early getting a pair in the second, then added four in the ninth to make the score respectable.
Chadsey would last 4.2 innings, scattering eight hits, and eight runs, five of them earned to be tagged with the loss.
Zach Mihic would have a nice night at the plate for Yorkton collecting three hits, and batting in a pair.
The Cardinals were scheduled to meet the Red Sox again Monday in Regina, but the game was once more postponed due to weather.
As a result of the week's action Yorkton sits with a record of 6-8. They are three games back of Regina who top the East Division.
Melville now sits 2.5 games off the pace for second spot in the Division, while Weyburn is 3.5 back.

The Cardinals are scheduled to host Weyburn at Jubilee Park tonight (Wednesday).
Medicine Hat rolls into Yorkton for action Thursday and Friday.
And then Monday Saskatoon will be in the city to face Yorkton.
