Each year the City of Regina plays host to a soccer competition that allows Saskatchewan soccer players from the age of 10 and up to represent either their home country, country of ancestral origin, or country of their choosing in an ‘international’ competition.

For the past few years members of the Yorkton United Soccer Club have also taken part in this tournament – known as the World Class Players World Cup – representing Germany in the under-12 competition.

That tradition has continued this year, where the Yorkton United U12 squad has once again entered the competition as Germany, opening the tournament up with a game against Team Canada.

Yorkton German United wasted no time in letting everyone know that they’re there to win the entire thing, trouncing Team Canada 15-0.

Yorkton Germany opened the scoring just two minutes into the game when Alex Pollock scored his first of three on the day.

Three minutes later and Justin Adam made it 2-0 when he too put the ball in the back of the Canada net.

Carter Dumelie, Pollock and Travis Foreman all scored not long after to make it 5-0 for Yorkton Germany, before Fardin Azizi rifled off a natural hattrick, making it 8-0 Yorkton Germany at the half.

A second Foreman goal with 17 minutes left in the game made it 9-0 and once again opened the flood gates, as Yorkton Germany scored six more times – once more from Foreman, twice off the foot of Adam and once each by Aleksa Bijelic, Aris Laloudakis and Pollock – to make the final result 15-0 in favour of the team representing Germany.

The next action for Yorkton Germany United U12 (1-0) will be Saturday, April 2 when they take on Team India (2-0). They’ll then wrap up their round-robin competition on Saturday, April 9 with a game against Romania (0-1).
