Last April the U12 and U10 boys’ Yorkton United soccer teams joined forces to compete as Team Germany at the World Class Players World Cup (WCP World Cup) soccer tournament in Regina.

This season they’ll do it again as the U12 boys – joined by five Regina players and a coach – will once again represent Germany in the month long tournament in Regina.

Last season Yorkton United as Team Germany finished second overall after a 3-1 defeat to England in the gold medal game and this season the team hopes to do one better by winning the entire tournament.

The U12 team got off to a strong start at the 2015 edition of the WCP World Cup, handing Bosnia a resounding 9-1 defeat.

Six different players scored for Team Germany. Amish Tripathy opened the scoring when he took the Cole Looft pass and put it in the back of the net.

Justin Adam was also the recipient of a Looft feed to make it 2-0 Germany before Looft decided to put the ball in himself, wiring a penalty kick off the woodwork and into the net for a 3-0 lead.

Matthew Dietrich made it 4-0 before and own goal by Bosnia made it 5-0.

Germany made it 7-0 at the half off of goals by Austin Andres and Adam,

The U12’s added two more goals in the second half, one each by Jonathan Fetsch and Looft, while Bosnia finally broke the cleansheet with their only goal of the game.

Final score: Germany (Yorkton United) defeats Bosnia by a score of 9-1.

The next game for Germany will be Saturday, April 4 against India.
