Togo girl plays Yorkton Venom Volleyball, wins gold

A newly-formed U16 Yorkton Venom Volleyball team has attracted players from the surrounding area, including Togo, Ituna, Lemberg and Foam Lake.

A newly-formed U16 Yorkton Venom Volleyball team has attracted players from the surrounding area, including Togo, Ituna, Lemberg and Foam Lake.

Kate Erhardt of Togo has been playing with the team and on March 7 brought home gold from a tournament in Humboldt. Team coaches are Kristen Martinuk, Kristen Jonassen and Tamara Herschmiller.

In round robin play, the Yorkton Venom won against the Prince Albert Toppers, Yorkton Chaos and Humboldt Hornets, losing to Saskatoon JCVC to land in second place. Going against third place finishers, Yorkton Chaos in the semi-final, they won in two sets which took them to the final against first place Saskatoon JCVC. Winning in two sets, they brought home gold medals.

The Yorkton Venom also won the skills competition at the Humboldt tournament.

On January 18 to 19, they took first place in the B side at a tournament in Moose Jaw, and on February 25 to 26 the team took first place in tier 3 at the Sask Cup #1 tournament in Saskatoon.

Due to COVID-19 all remaining season games are cancelled.
