With the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League just returning to action after the Christmas break the Yorkton Terriers head into 2014 with a record of 20-7-2-3 for 45 points, leaving them tops in the league's Viterra Division.
Melville sits second with 44 points, followed by Estevan with 35 and Weyburn at 28.
The 45 points might top the Viterra, but is third best in the league. Humboldt and Kindersley sit tied atop the Kramer Division each with 48-points at the break.
The Terriers do sit with the best winning percentage in the league at .703, with Melville second at .688 and Humboldt at .686.
Through their 32 games the Terriers have scored a total of 95 goals, which is middle of the pack in the SJHL..
Melville tops the league scoring 113-goals to-date.
Flin Flon has scored the fewest goals at 81.
Individually Tayler Thompson leads the Terriers in scoring with 36-points, third best in the league. Nipawin's Tad Kozun leads the SJHL with 40-points, with Austin Daae from Estevan second with 39.
Thompson's 27-assists is best in terms of helpers.
Recently acquired Terrier Brett Boehm is now second on the team in scoring with 29-points, with Chase Norrish rounding out the team's top-three.
Chase Norrish sits third in the SJHL in defenceman scoring with 21 points, tied with Melville's Alec Brandrup.
Two Humboldt rearguards top the category David Stromborg with 25 and Logan Sproule with 22.
Defensively Yorkton has allowed the fewest goals with 70, three fewer than Humboldt with 73.
LaRonge has allowed the most goals at 125.
In net Kale Thomson's 1.79 goals against average through 26-games played is second best in the SJHL. He sits sandwiched between two Humboldt netminders. Ryland Pashovitz has played 14-games and has the top GAA with 1.18, with Cade Spencer third at 2.09 with 17-games played.
Thomson does lead the league with five shut-outs, and has the most wins in the loop with 17.

Yorkton was scheduled to play in Melville Dec. 30, with the teams meeting at the Farrell Agencies Arena New Year's Day, but results were not available at press time.
Friday (Jan. 3) Melfort will be in Yorkton, with the Terriers heading north for a re-match with the Mustangs Saturday.
