Terriers losing streak hits seven

A seven-game losing streak has pushed the Yorkton Terriers into the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Viterra Division basement.

A seven-game losing streak has pushed the Yorkton Terriers into the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League's Viterra Division basement.

The Yorkton record now sits at 7-13-1-2 for 17 points, one less than third place Weyburn, as Estevan sits with 19 and Melville atop the heap with 25.

The road swing north to La Ronge was a long drive with little reward for the Terriers.

Friday evening Adam Moghrobi gave the host Icewolves a 1-0 lead 10:29 into the contest, but Dylan Baer would respond 41-seconds later to send the teams to the dressing rooms deadlocked 1-1 after 20-minutes.

Dave Randall scored the lone second period goal for La Ronge.

Jared Blacquiere and Kyler Wilkinson added third period markers to round out a 4-1 Icewolves win.

Matt Kustra took the loss in the Terrier net facing 41-shots, while Austin Rediron had the LaRonge win facing 39.

Things were not much different when the teams locked up for a rare Saturday afternoon encounter.

The Terriers did carry a 1-0 lead into the second period after a Riley Hunt goal 8:53 through the first, but it took only 53-seconds into the second for Jared Iron to tie the contest with a powerplay marker.

Kyle Campbell added a second powerplay goal at 1:38 to give the Icewolves a 2-1 lead.

Colby Daniels rounded out the scoring with yet another goal with a man advantage 1:43 into the third for a 3-1 La Ronge win.

Dawson MacAuley took the loss facing 27-shots between the Terrier pipes, while Rediron faced 55 for the win.

Last Tuesday loss

The Terriers were in Estevan Nov. 18, to face the Bruins, where Tyson Enzie gave the visitors a 1-0 lead 4:23 into the contest.

Ryan Duret would knot the score late in the first on the powerplay.

Brad Arabia and Zach Douglas would give the Bruins a 3-1 lead through 40-minutes.

Former Yorkton Harvest (now Maulers) star Lynden Pastachak struck at the four-minute mark of the third to extend the Estevan lead, only to have Adam Santoro get that goal back for the Terriers 19-seconds later.

But that would be it for Yorkton scoring, while yet another former Yorkton Midget AAA player found the back of the net as Chase McKersie added one for the Bruins to round out a 5-2 win.

MacAuley took the loss facing 41-shots, with Tyler Gutenberg faced 25 in the win for Estevan.

Up next

The Terriers are scheduled to host Nipawin tonight (Wednesday) at the Farrell Agencies Arena.

Friday the Terriers are in Melville, with the Millionaires back here for action Saturday.
