The Yorkton Terriers wrapped up their preseason on Sunday evening, finishing with a 2-1-2 record.聽

The first two games were last week against the Melville Millionaires, which were split 1-1, with the Terriers winning the first match up, and losing the second in an overtime period.

Over the weekend, the Terriers played three games in three days. The first two were against a Manitoba Junior Hockey League team.

On Friday night, they headed to Manitoba to play the Dauphin Kings. The Terriers took that game 3-2. The following evening, they hosted the Kings at the Farrell Agencies Arena. The Kings took the win 6-5.

After the short series against the MJHL team, Terriers head coach/GM Casey O鈥橞rien said being matched up to a team that they鈥檙e not as familiar with in comparison to other SJHL teams is a good test for them.聽

鈥淚t鈥檚 fun to get a different opponent. With Dauphin, it鈥檚 a fun rivalry that we want to keep going forward,鈥 he said.聽

Coming off of training camp and other preseason games, O鈥橞rien said his players were looking tired, but it鈥檚 time to push forward going into the regular season.

He said they have to avoid slow starts in their games this season, which is something the Terriers experienced a few times last season.

On Sunday in the last preseason game, the Terriers headed to Saskatoon to face the Battlefords North Stars 鈥 last year鈥檚 SJHL champions.聽

That game went into an overtime period after regulation play ended with a 3-3 tie. The overtime period ended in favour of the North Stars.聽

With that, the preseason is over and it鈥檚 time for the regular season to begin.聽

The first game will be on Friday for the Terriers. They鈥檒l travel to Weyburn to face the Red Wings.聽

The first home game will be on Sunday afternoon at 4:30 p.m at the FAA as they host the Red Wings.聽
