It was a weekend split in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League for the Yorkton Terriers.

The split leaves the Terriers with a record of 4-5-1-1 for 10-points, second best in the Viterra Division and three points back of rival Melville.

Estevan is third with eight points, while Weyburn has six.

The weekend loss came Friday, but it would take extra time before the La Ronge Ice Wolves could board their bus with two points.

Following a scoreless first period Dylan Baer would finally give the Terriers a lead with a powerplay marker at 14:54 of the second.

The lead would evaporate when Connor Kortko scored at 19:29 for the Wolves.

Daylan Gatzke would restore a Terrier lead at 6:59 of the third, only to have Kortko tie the game again at 12:38.

The remainder of regulation time would not determine a winner, sending the game to a five-minute, four-on-four overtime, where Cole Porter scored the winner for La Ronge at 3:29.

Dawson MacAuley was tagged with the loss in the Terrier net facing 32-shots, while the Terriers fired 40 at winning netminder Kris Joyce.

Gatzke said the Terriers "have got to find ways of keeping a lead.

"We're struggling right now."

Terrier head coach Trent Cassan said games getting away on the team is not good.

"It's becoming too common right now," he said after Friday's game. He added it's not so much about "finding ways to win games. But finding ways not to lose them."

Cassan said the Terriers have "played well in spurts", but the consistency to win has been lacking.

While the Terriers haven't been able to put teams away once they have an early lead, Gatzke said it will come around.

"It's not the end of the world," he said. "We know we can get a lot more out of ourselves We've just got to bear down."

Asked about his goal Friday, Gatzke said while nice, it's about team success, not personal stats.

"It's team first," he said.

That said, he added as a veteran 20-year-old, he does feel some pressure to pot some goals to push the team into more wins.

"We haven't found that spark, or chemistry in some lines," he offered.

Saturday the Terriers headed south to face Weyburn, opening up the game with a pair of unanswered goals in the first period by Riley Hunt and Brandon Sookro.

It took Josh Lees only 2:10 into the second period to cut the Terrier lead in half.

Regan Seiferling restored the two-goal Terrier lead at 4:01 on the powerplay. It was the first regular season goal for the rookie rearguard.

A Weyburn powerplay goal by Colton Laroque at 10:11 made it a 3-2 contest through two periods.

Daylan Gatzke scored a powerplay goal for the Terriers 13-seconds into the third to establish a 4-2 lead, but the Wings would not fade away as Lees made it a one-goal contest with a Weyburn marker at 13:29.

Kurt Johnas finally salted away a Yorkton victory with an empty-net goal at 18:37 to complete a 5-3 score.

Matt Kustra earned the win in the Terrier net facing 27-shots, while Nick Malvin took the loss for Weyburn facing 27.
