Tennis players do well in tourneys

Two members of the Yorkton Pirates Tennis Club found the podium at the Western Canada Summer Games in Wood Buffalo, Alberta, recently.

Two members of the Yorkton Pirates Tennis Club found the podium at the Western Canada Summer Games in Wood Buffalo, Alberta, recently.

Clarizze Perpetua brought home two bronze medals, one in ladies’ doubles and the other in team standings while Ben Lortie also brought home a bronze in both mens’ doubles and team standings.

In other tennis news David Bella, Matthew Powell and Ariel Alfelor took part in the Lakeshore Summer Classic Open in Regina this past weekend.

Bella finished in second place in the men’s singles 4.5 category while went 1-1 in the men’s singles open class.

Alfelor lost his opening match of the tournament and then suffered an injury that prevented him from playing in his second singles match. However Alfelor and Powell also played in men’s doubles, losing two matches in on the weekend.
