Team Sask returns from National Chess tournament

Team Saskatchewan has recently returned from the 27th National Chess Challenge; hosted in Quebec City over the May long weekend. The team did well, placing seventh overall at the National tournament.

Team Saskatchewan has recently returned from the 27th National Chess Challenge; hosted in Quebec City over the May long weekend.

The team did well, placing seventh overall at the National tournament.

Team Saskatchewan was made up of twelve kids, one from each grade.

The player’s earn their spot on the team at the Provincial Chess Challenge held each year in early April.

At the National Chess Challenge, the teams play nine rounds of chess with each player on the team competing against the nine other players, one from each province, that are in their grade.

Next year Saskatchewan will be hosting the 28th National Chess Challenge in Regina Saskatchewan. It will be the first time that Saskatchewan will play host to the event in its 28 year history. Yorkton’s Narom Sing is taking a lead role in the organizing of this event and hopes to make this event a huge success.
