ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The Canora Supers swept their first round best-of-three playoff series against the Roblin Stars with a pair of impressive victories.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý On July 14 the Supers finished off their playoff series sweep versus the Stars with a convincing 21-6 win. The offence was able to put multiple runs on the scoreboard in each inning while the pitching and defence did their part to keep the game out of reach.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Seven Supers had a multi-hit game including Logan Parachoniak with a home run and three runs batted in (RBI). Travis Mentanko, Greg Andreychuk, Brogan Legebokoff, Terry Cumming, Clint Maduck, and Adam Korb each had two hits.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Parachoniak started on the hill and went four innings to pick up the win. He gave up just one hit, two walks and three runs (one earned) with six strikeouts. Darcy Blommaert finished the game off, and allowed three runs (two earned) on two hits and two strikeouts in his only inning as pitcher.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý The defence played well with only one error on the evening.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Game one of the first round best of three series was played in Roblin on July 13. After the opening two innings went scoreless, the Supers erupted for five runs in the top of the third and never looked back in a 12-5 victory.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý A 13-hit attack was led by Travis Mentanko's two doubles, two singles and four RBI. Logan Parachoniak, Greg Andreychuk, and Clint Maduck each had a pair of hits. Kholton Shewchuk, Adam Korb and Brogan Legebokoff each had one hit.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý Shewchuk started on the mound and tossed six innings. He gave up just three runs on eight hits, and struck out eight to pick up the win. Derek Palagian pitched the final inning to finish the game.
ÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌýÌý As a result of the first round series win, the Supers face the Langenburg Indians in round two of the playoffs in another best-of-three series. Game two will be the Supers’ first home game of the series. It’s set for July 20 at 6:15 p.m. at Al Sapieha field.
