Sacred Heart Girls Soccer team hosted their annual soccer tournament on Sept. 13-14. The tournament consisted of four teams in the 3A category, Regina Campbell, Prince Albert Carlton, Prince Albert St Mary, Yorkton Regional, and two teams in the 2A category, Sacred Heart and Notre Dame.
Friday's action
Rita Fetsch scored four goals to lead Sacred Heart over Regina Campbell 6-5 in their opening game. Bryce Sherring and Kristen Jonassen netted the Saints' other pair of markers.
Yorkton Regional, meanwhile, fell 9-1 to Prince Albert St. Mary.
Saturday's action
The three winners advanced to the Championship Pool and the three losers advanced to the Consolation Pool
In the Championship Pool, Prince Albert Saint Mary defeated Sacred Heart 3 to 2.
Regina Campbell won the Consolation Pool by defeating Notre Dame 2-1 and knocking off Yorkton Regional 11-0.
"For the Saints, although they won one game and lost two, they continued to improve every game," said SHHS coach Jeanne Fetsch. "They will need to increase the speed at which they play, get better with their first touch, and improve their overall fitness in order to compete with the best 3A schools."
Fetsch went onto say she was impressed with some players.
"Kristen Jonassen played outstanding in the central defense position and Bryce Sherring and Rita Fetsch produced some excellent and creative offense to account for most of the scoring. Rookies JJ Chogata, Allison Berge and Lexi Guy all impressed coaching staff."
Saints' next game is on Monday when they play Yorkton Regional in an exhibition game. They go onto a Moose Jaw tournament on the weekend.
