The Cab Male Athlete of the Month was a very busy athlete this fall at Sacred Heart. Anthony Fetsch played on the boys' soccer team and was a dominant force as SHHS went into a shootout for provincial gold with Evan Hardy of Saskatoon. Fetsch also trained with the cross country team and he played on the senior boys volleyball team. On one afternoon near the end of October, he and four other teammates went directly from soccer provincials into the gym to help the volleyball team in its annual weekend tournament. On the soccer team he played the striker position. He always gave 100 per cent and he was the leading scorer on the provincial champion Saints soccer team. On the volleyball team, he played the Libero position, the volleyball Libero is a defensive specialist in indoor volleyball. It was added to the game years ago in order to foster more digs and rallies to keep the game more exciting. He/she remains in the game at all times and is the only player not limited by the rules of rotation.

SHHS's Fetsch became widely known as the best passer on the team. His coach, Curtis Moen, says Fetsch was always working hard, he never gives up and he has that rare talent to stay relaxed even in a tight game. At the Saskatchewan High Schools Athletic Association senior boys championships for volleyball, the SHHS headed up north to Wilkie. Fetsch came up with all kinds of digs, sacrificing his body to keep the ball alive. He was actually injured digging a ball but he played through the pain. "Yes, Anthony had hurt his hip digging a ball in the back row of the court," recalled coach Moen. He came back and helped the SHHS squad come out of the tournament a respectable fourth-place finish in the province. The Cab Male Athlete of the Month for December is Anthony Fetsch. The Cab Clothing female athlete of the month at Sacred Heart also played both soccer and volleyball over the past several months. Gr. 10 Kristen Jonassen is said to be a very versatile athlete who gives it her all game in and game out regardless of what the sport happens to be. Sacred Heart girls soccer coach, Jeanne Fetsch said Jonassen was reliable as a back-up goalkeeper, but who could also chip in in the backfield or up front, when needed. Her strongest position however, was playing the midfield where she could be found setting up teammates for scoring opportunities. Jonassen completed the 2011 soccer season with 15 points (eight goals, seven assists). Jonassen continued her strong play on the floors of the volleyball court where her personal highlights included leading the SHHS team in kills at the Estevan tournament. Her personality on the floors did not go un-noticed either, according to her coach. "Her sense of humour kept our practices light but at the same time, she was one of the hardest working girls on the team, says Perry Enns, Jonassen's coach. Both of Jonassen's coaches agree that she was the picture of intensity during the games and, even though she is only a Gr. 10 student, she became a leader both on and off of the field. The Sacred Heart/Cab Clothing Female Athlete of the Month for December is Kristen Jonassen.
