This past weekend the senior Saints girls hosted an eight team tournament.
The Saints started the tournament playing Melville on Friday with the support of many Sacred Heart students and staff. The Lady Saints took the lead early and held it the entire time en route to a 55-46 win. Kaitlyn Kitzan lead the scoring with 13 points coming from solid rebounding opportunities and top of the key shooting.
Sacred Heart took on Regina - Johnson in the semi-finals. Kendra Varjassy led the way offensively scoring 29 points in the win to send the Saints to the 鈥楢鈥 side finals.
In the final the Saints met the Fillmore Falcons.
The game was back and forth the entire time, but in the end the Saints came up short, falling to Fillmore 35-28. Justine Zarowny led the Saints offensively in the loss with 12 points.
鈥淚 would like to applaud my team for all their hard work and dedication in this season so far鈥 said Saints coach Haylea Herbert. 鈥淭he players did a great job representing their school on their home court.
It鈥檚 only the start of the season, and so far we have gone no where but up.鈥
The team looks forward to their next tournament in Melville at the end of the month.
