After a strong opening quarter, the Regional High School senior girls offence disappeared as they dropped a 40-34 game to the host Melville Cobras at the Melville Invitational tournament on Saturday.

A strong defensive effort kept the orange ladies in the game but questionable coaching decisions and an inability to convert offensive opportunities led to the Melville victory. Raelene Nagy led the offence with 16 points and 11 rebounds.

In their first round game, YRHS beat Norquay 51-34 behind Brandey Blahut's 17 points and a strong rebounding effort from Rebecca McLaren and Nagy.

The semi final contest pitted YRHS against a Manitoba team (Virden).

With their best defensive game of the season, they coasted to a 61-53. Robyn Bendfeld's inside game was working, as she hit 24 points along with 18 rebounds while teammate Blahut added 15 points.
