Mostly sun with a breeze greeted players participating in the second annual Sas-Kam Open Disc Golf Tournament that was held at the Kamsack course on September 7.
The event attracted local golfers along with players from Yorkton and Regina, and Inglis, Man. This was the second stop on the Legacy Co-op Tour Series.
For Ryan Bremner of Regina it was his first disc golf tournament. Both he and girlfriend Kathryn Turner, also of Regina, found the course to be 鈥渜uite lovely,鈥� and liked the trees and layout, saying the variety made the course interesting. 鈥淲e would come back again,鈥� they said, having never been visitors to the area before.
The first leg of the Legacy Co-op tour was held in Yorkton on August 25 at the Patrick Park Disc Golf course. The next event was to be in Churchbridge on September 14, and then the final wrap up is to take place in Theodore at the Whitesand Regional Park on September 22.
In the 50-plus Division Yorkton鈥檚 Doug Kerr shot a plus-three 63 through two rounds on the nine basket course to place first, said a release from the Parkland Disc Golf Association.
Karl Leimhofer of Inglis, was second with a 72 (plus-12), with Trevor Lyons of Yorkton third at 76 (plus-16)
In the Junior Division first went to Kamsack disc golfer Kade Wishnevetski with a 71 (plus-11), with Nick Bielecki, also of Kamsack second with a 73 (plus-13)
Sandy Kerr of Yorkton topped the Ladies Division shooting a 75 (plus-15).
In the Open Division Sebastian Leimhofer of Inglis was 129 (64/65) through 36 for a plus-nine and top spot.
Lukas Leimhofer of Inglis was second at 141 (72/69) (plus-21).
Third place went to Kathryn Turner of Regina a 160 (77/73) (plus-30), with Ryan Bremner of Regina fourth at 152 (77/75) (plus-32).
In the longest drive event Nick Bielecki of Kamsack topped the group with a throw of 383 feet.
Top finishers among Parkland Association of Disc Golf members advance to a season-ending Championship Challenge in October, it said.
