The Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation held the 2016 Provincial Angling & Henry Kelsey Awards Presentations in Yorkton on Apr. 8.
Approximately 200 guests gathered at St. Mary’s Cultural Centre to recognize the top trophies from the 2016 hunting season from all over the province.
Each year, the awards banquet is held in a different town in Saskatchewan.
There were two men from Yorkton who claimed the first place spot in their respective categories in the Henry Kelsey Big Game Awards.
Brian Nielsen captured first place in the Typical Whitetail category. There were 21 entries to this category who reached the Henry Kelsey minimum. Nielsen took first place with a measurement of 178 1/8.
Nielsen also received second place in the Angling Awards for a brown trout, weighing 6 lbs. 13 oz.
Ward Krasowski is from Yorkton and belongs to the Willowbrook Wildlife branch. He took home first place in the Moose category, with measurements of 183 6/8.
Kyla Krushelniski from Macklin was perhaps the talk of the night with her non-typical elk. She won first place in that category, also taking over with the new provincial record, with her non-typical elk measuring 462 5/8.
Krushelniski also won the Ernie Paynter Memorial Award for best overall head, and the ladies overall award.

This story has been modified from its original version to reflect a correction of Ward Krasowski's particulars.
