The Rider Prider Hockey Challenge, presented by SaskCanola is only a few days away.
"This was promised to us from the Riderville contest last year," says Jason Farrell of the Yorkton Minor Football Association.
"Their first stop and priority stop," insists Farrell.
The Yorkton Minor Football Association is getting some help from the Saskatchewan Roughriders football club in raising money for a washroom/changeroom facility at the Century Field.
As previously announced through the Yorkton Minor Football (YMF) Association, some of the Riders playing are Chris Getzlaf, Jason Clermont, Weston Dressler, Neal Hughes, Nick Hutchins and a host of other Rider personalities. They will be playing against various coaches of the Yorkton Minor Football as well as some other locals.
The game is Saturday at Kinsman Arena at 7 p.m.
It will include two periods/halves of hockey and a halftime show involving teams from Yorkton Minor Hockey. The Kinsman Blue Room will be open for beverages and Tapp's will be serving beef on a bun.
Tickets are available through Herbal Magic, Farrell Agencies and York Sask Drycleaners and are available for $5 each. Only 500 tickets will be sold.
Proceeds from the game will be used to construct a multi-purpose clubhouse and washroom facility at Century Field.
Monday afternoon, the entire squad of the Saskatchewan Roughrider football club was released by YMF.
17 Stu Foorde, 19 Chris Milo, 8 Jordan Sisco, 16 Dan Clark, 6 Nick Hutchins, 12 Chris Best. They will be coached by 10 Mike McCullough and 20 Tearrius George. Rider staff includes: 14 Kevin Clive, 9 Trevor Len, 4 Andrew Craig. Representing the media is 13 Lee Jones (CTV Sports Regina) and the SaskCanola Player, representing Yorkton Minor Hockey will be 1 Tanner Melynchuk.
YMF reminds that those 12 years of age and under are admitted free and Molson will be helping out as well.
