Rhein Sports Days celebrate 105 years

The 105th annual Rhein Sports Day is in the books. Saturday kicked off with a six-team Mosquito baseball tournament. Tournament organizer Kirbey Stewart stated that five Yorkton teams and one team from Canora took part.

The 105th annual Rhein Sports Day is in the books. Saturday kicked off with a six-team Mosquito baseball tournament. Tournament organizer Kirbey Stewart stated that five Yorkton teams and one team from Canora took part.

In the end the Yorkton Cardinal team Blue defeated Yorkton team Orange to win the tournament. There was a good crowd on hand for the day and volunteer burger flipper Brock Junek said the food booth was very busy.

Sunday was the men’s fastball and co-ed slo-pitch tournament.The Rhein Rockets took the final 7-0 over the Rosebud Royals on a one-hitter by veteran pitcher Terry Peppler. The Rockets had to come from behind to defeat the Pipestone Pistons 3-2 and the Stoney Creek Braves 15-8.

The B-final was won by Stoney Creek over the Conquest Coyotes and C-side saw Pipestone defeat Wynyard.

The Co-ed Slo-Pitch tournament was won by the local team named BV Signs, who outlasted the Togo Crush.

The citizens of Rhein would like to thank everyone who made the 105th annual Rhein Sports Day the success it was!
